Plus One Robotics is demonstrating AI-powered depalletizing and palletizing at PACK EXPO 2026 (booth N5660) in partnership with Torfresma. The live cell uses Torfresma’s TRF Compact modular system paired with an ABB robot and Plus One’s AI vision and supervised-autonomy platform. The system addresses real-world variability in warehouse and distribution environments—mixed SKUs, inconsistent case quality, orientation changes, and unexpected conditions—through intelligent perception that identifies products as they move through automated workflows.
Plus One’s approach combines computer vision, AI decision-making, and human-in-the-loop (supervised autonomy) capabilities. Robots handle routine cases autonomously; when an edge case arises, remote human experts can intervene, and those interventions feed back into the learning process, reducing the need for intervention over time. CEO Erik Nieves emphasized that success is measured by reliable operation and customer value, not just intelligence claims.
He stated that practical warehouse automation requires integrating computer vision, hardware, software, and human expertise into a system that handles what actually occurs on the floor. The company, founded in 2016 and focused on parcel and apparel handling for Global 100 logistics and e-commerce operators, positions the technology as one of the faster and more reliable AI-enabled robotic manipulation platforms for material handling. Attendees can see the cell in action and discuss applications with Nieves and CTO Shaun Edwards.
For operators, the demonstration illustrates how specialized AI vision can be layered onto proven hardware platforms to reduce manual depalletizing and palletizing labor, improve consistency under variable conditions, and support scalable automation without requiring perfect upstream process control. This aligns with ongoing industry demand for systems that raise throughput and accuracy while managing the complexity of mixed-case and high-SKU operations common in 3PLs and omnichannel fulfillment.
